HOW TO "AFRAID"
There’s a mistake here:
“I afraid of spiders.”
This is correct:
“I’m afraid of spiders.”
“Afraid” is an adjective. It is not a verb.
“Afraid” needs a form of BE in front of it.
AM + AFRAID
AM NOT + AFRAID
IS + AFRAID
IS NOT + AFRAID
ARE + AFRAID
ARE NOT + AFRAID
WAS + AFRAID
WAS NOT + AFRAID
WERE + AFRAID
WERE NOT + AFRAID
…etc.
In spoken English, contractions are often used:
“I’m afraid.” (“I-muh-fraid”…not “I-uh-fraid”)
“He’s afraid.” (“He-zuh-fraid”…not “He-uh-fraid”)
“They’re afraid.” (“They-ruh-fraid”…not “They-uh-fraid”)
A missing form of BE, even as a contraction, is a VERY NOTICEABLE mistake.
BE is the number one verb in English, and it goes before “afraid.”
I hope this was helpful!
